Humans, Being
Faith is an innately human act. I am fascinated by the idea that what I am photographing here, right now, is reflective of patterns and traditions that have persisted over centuries and exist across cultures, acts that have radiated throughout the history of human consciousness.
And while faith can be perceived as a dividing factor between cultures, often used in a polarizing way by nefarious political actors to control, confuse and divide, I think the bigger picture reveals that the call of faith itself is part of human nature. Whether we individually believe or participate, it seems to be something that humans do…a reflexive response to our condition, a pause to think within or beyond ourselves. It may be something we have in common with one another.
I am drawn to these connections.
