Notes on Practice
Christopher Watson opens practice with movements to stretch and limber bodies, his own included, and with exercises intended to break down barriers between performers and open a flow of physical, intuitive communication. Then, to work.
Dancers, tasked in pairs, create original movements along a theme. Call, response, observation, refinement. Repeat. Energy transfers biologically, through fingertips, torso and sweat. These small pieces of dance begin to merge seamlessly. A unified choreography emerges.
